Disclaimer
1. Players
----------
2-4 players may take part. 1-3 of these players can be computer opponents [*]
2. Aim of the Game
------------------
Players take turns to move their counters around the board by rolling the dice,
buying properties and charging rent as they go. The winner is the remaining
player when the rest have become bankrupt.
3. Playing Instructions
-----------------------
Player take turns to move their counter. Each turn begins by
rolling the dice. The player then moves around the board clockwise by the
amount of squares indicated by the dice. Scoring a double entitles the
player to an extra turn. A player rolling three doubles in a row
is sent to jail.
The squares are as follows:
o Start
o City Properties (denoted by a thick black bar at the top)
o Airports
o Utilities - cable and internet companies
o Luck or finance squares
o Go to Jail and Jail
o Forfeit squares
o The Channel Tunnel
3.1 Landing on a square
-----------------------
City Properties, Airports and Utilities.
If a property is not owned, you have the opportunity to buy it. The cost of
the property is indicated on the square. If a property is owned by another
player, rent must be paid, as specified on the deed.
Luck and Finance.
Players landing on one of these sqaures are presented with a card at random,
which may help or hinder their progress in the game.
Forfeit squares.
The specified amount of money must be paid to the bank.
Jail & Go To Jail.
Landing on the jail square has no effect in itself. If a player lands on
"Go To Jail" they must move to the jail square to serve their sentence.
Start
Players collect $200 every time they pass this square.
Channel Tunnel
No action is taken when a player lands on the 'Channel Tunnel'
3.2 Houses and Hotels
---------------------
If a player owns all of the city properties in a country, they may buy houses
and hotels on any of the properties in that country, but they must develop
evenly. There is a maximum of 4 houses on each property and one hotel may
be purchased on each if all 4 houses have been bought. The rent charged to
other players is increased if houses and hotels are owned on that property,
in accordance with the amount on the deed. If a player owns every property
in a country, then double rent is charged on properties in that group which
have not yet been developed.
3.3 Airports
------------
Houses and hotels cannot be bought on airports. The rent charged depends on
the number of other airports the player owns. This is specified on the deed.
3.4 Utilities
-------------
Rent charged for landing on the utility squares depends is multiplied by
the previous dice roll, in accordance with the deed.
3.5 Jail
--------
Players' turns ends immediately if they are sent to jail. They may not leave
until:
o they roll a double
o they pay $50 bail
o they choose to use a 'get out of jail' card for this purpose
After their third turn in jail, players must pay $50 bail to leave.
4 The Pilot Interface
---------------------
Before play commences, enter the names of the players in the space provided
using Graffiti penstrokes. You should also choose a name for any computer
opponents [*]. Use the pull down menus to select whether a player is taking
part in the game or is controlled by the Pilot.

o 40 board squares around the edge
o The name of the player whose turn it is and their playing counter (card suits).
o The current player's money.

dice are ready to roll.

can press at any time before they finish their turn or roll the dice again
(in the case of scoring a double).
To finish a turn and pass control to the next player, tap the 'finish' button.

6 Mini FAQ
----------
Q6.1 I registered this version and received an older
registered version from PilotGear HQ. How do I get the latest
version?
A: There is sometimes a slight delay between releasing a new
shareware version and the update on PilotGear HQ's server.
Email pghq-delays@antigone.demon.co.uk with your full
name to receive the latest registered version.
Q6.2 Will this work on a Pilot 1000/5000?
A: Unfortuately not, due to memory limitations.
Q6.3 The game won't run on my Pilot Personal/Pro/Palm III.
A: Try freeing some more memory. The game allocates extra memory at runtime.
Q6.4 I've played a similar game to this where you can do X. Why can't I do this
in "Go To Jail"?
A: Although "Go To Jail" is inspired by a number of board games, it is
not intended to be exactly like any of them. The game is created to
take full advantage of the features and convenience a Pilot can provide,
which are obviously different to a PC game or a real board game.
Q6.5 Can I swap/mortgage/sell properties?
A: "Go To Jail" is a turn based game. Including these features might cause
confusion!
Q6.6 Are there any other editions other than "World Cities"?
A: More editions are planned. See http://surf.to/pilotgames
for the latest updates.
Q6.7 Can I change the properties?
A: A game editor does not exist at the moment, but may be available
in the future, depending on sales.
Q6.8 Can you give me the source code to Go To Jail?
A: I have no plans to release the source code at the moment.
Q6.9 I would like to contact the author. How do I get in touch?
A: See http://surf.to/pilotgames for current contact details.
Q6.10 What other games has Neil Pollard written?
A: See the website for details of Pipeline Perils, an addictive
arcade game and the former no. 1 app at Eurocool.
I have also included links to some other great Pilot games.
